Botanica Apartments

The site occupies a highly prominent location alongside the Bridgewater Way, a major arterial road running south west from Manchester City Centre towards Old Trafford and the rest of the Trafford Borough.

The analysis of the site and its surrounding context informed the design concept of the proposal. Site restrictions involving an existing culvert and an associated easement were utilised to create a ‘central avenue’ through the proposal. A collection of taller nodal points in the massing encourage way-finding through the site and create a strong ink with the surrounding context, in particular the Cornbrook Metro Station. These taller elements orientate to break down the overall mass and address certain key views, particularly into and out of Manchester City Centre.
