Where the site and context, permit the layout should be designed so the majority of houses face south, with their roof pitches facing to allow for pv solar panels to be most efficient.
Maximum solar gain (east-to-west layout and south facing pitches)
High solar gain (south facing roof pitches on north-to-south layout)
Low solar gain (east and west facing roof pitches on east-to-west layout)
Lowest solar gain (east and west facing roof pitches on north-to-south layout)
